CNB Enhanced Security Information

Our new Enhanced Security Login is part of CNB's compliance with the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's (FFIEC) requirements. This new login procedure is designed to help CNB verify that it is you logging into your online banking account rather than someone pretending to be you, using a stolen user name and password.

The new procedure requires creation of a set of three Security Questions. If you have multiple online banking logins, you'll need to create a set of security questions for each one.

After you create the Security Questions along with their answers, you will have the option of registering your computer by downloading a digital certificate. This is an optional step because you can always log into CNB Online Banking from any computer by providing your user name, password, and answer to one of your security questions. But you will likely want to register at least one trusted computer, the one that you access Online Banking from most frequently, in order to make your login process faster. When you log in from a registered computer you are not required to answer a security question to complete the process.

Key Terms

Trusted Computer
A trusted computer is one that you control the access to (e.g., your home computer). Computers such as those in hotel business centers, libraries, and possibly even those owned by your employer are public computers and therefore non-trusted. You should never register a non-trusted computer.
Registered Computer
A registered computer is one that you have downloaded a CNB Digital Certificate to. Your user name and password, plus the presence of the certificate on your computer when you log in, gives CNB two layers of credentials to verify your identity.

You should only register trusted computers.
Digital Certificate
Security token that provides an additional means of proving your identity in electronic transactions, much like a driver's license or a passport does in fact-to-face interactions.
