CNB Enhanced Security Login

Registering a Trusted Computer

In this step, you will register your computer by downloading a digital certificate from the CNB Online Banking server to your computer. Future logins from a registered computer are faster because no security question prompts occur.

You should only register trusted computers.

Compatibility Notes

  • This step requires the prior completion of the Security Question setup.
  • Digital Certificate capability is supported by these browsers:
  • Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6.x or later
Firefox versions 1.x or later (please download the Firefox guide)
Netscape versions 9.x or later (please download the Netscape guide)

    Apple Mac
Mac users should consult the Mac FAQ for specific instructions.

    Other Browsers
If you want to continue to use a non-supported browser, you can do so by following the non-trusted computer login process.

  • Each supported browser handles digital certificates a bit differently. The messages you receive and options available might be different. We've tried to identify those differences where applicable, but you can also refer to your browser's online help for more specific information.

Setup

  1. Log into CNB Online Banking from the home page or from the Online Banking login page.
  2. You'll be taken to the "Security Question Required" page and presented with one of your Security Questions.
  3. Enter the correct answer to the Security Question.
  4. Check "Enable this computer with my Digital Certificate for future secure and convenient online banking." A note will display with instructions related to warnings that you'll see from your browser. Select "Continue"

  6. If the Comodo Subscriber Agreement page appears, check "I agree" and select "Submit."
  7. Two Potential Scripting Violation warning messages will appear.

These warnings are simply to let you know that the CNB Online Banking server is requesting a new certificate on your behalf and is adding it to your computer. Select "Yes" for both warnings.
  8. Firefox and Netscape browsers may display a "Change Master Password" screen to establish a master password for all digital certificates downloaded to the browser. This is a Firefox and Netscape option, and you can simply click "Cancel" to continue without choosing a master password.
  9. The next time you log into Online Banking no Security Question prompt will appear. Instead, you will be shown a page asking you to choose the digital certificate. Once you've selected the certificate, all subsequent logins will bypass the "Choose a digital certificate" step.
