I just wanted to respond to these bailout videos. I grew up in a "small bank" household. My Father worked his way from teller in Oneida County Savings bank to become President. I heard the phone calls late in the evening, from customers, friends, asking for help. I saw distressed people go to my father for assistance and assurance after banking hours. I saw how my Father respected his customers and his employees. He was, and is, a handshake person. His word is his obligation. He trusted his ability to assess the landscape, believe in people, and celebrate the local nature of his bank. Common sense drove his business decisions, even in the most difficult times. I can't help but be reminded of his values and ethics when watching these videos. I've never met Mr. Hamlin, though I would consider it a privilege. He speaks the same language as my father. He exhibits the same belief in his community as my father. He evaluates the opportunities and risks, as the head of the CNB "household", with the best interests of all parties in mind. In this big-bank world, I'm thankful for an opportunity to participate in this local banking experience, where I know decisions are being made by people who will look me in the eye and be truthful and trustworthy. I'm glad CNB is not participating in TARP. Here, it's not about the money; it's about doing what's right for us all. Thank you, Mr. Hamlin. Thank you CNB.
